Cetatea dacica de la Costesti-Blidaru este localizata in satul Costesti, comuna Orastioara de Sus, judetul Hunedoara. Cu rosturi pur militare, este cea mai impozanta lucrare de acest gen din zona, fiind ridicata în doua etape. Amplasata pe un deal (705 m altitudine) cu perspectiva catre valea Muresului si Sarmisegetusa Regia, controla drumul antic de acces catre aceasta. La est si nord-est de cetatea de la Blidaru, erau amplasate trei turnuri de paza, iar alte turnuri supravegheau împrejurimile.
Prima incinta, dinspre est, era de forma unui patrulater neregulat, cu patru turnuri la colturi. Prin turnul din coltul sud-vestic, ce avea intrarea în cleste, se realiza accesul la o intrare secundara. Tehnica de construire a zidurilor este cea cunoscuta sub numele murus Dacicus, adica doua paramente de blocuri de calcar fasonate, unite între ele prin bârne de lemn, iar spatiul dintre cele doua siruri de blocuri se umplea cu sfarmaturi de piatra si cu pamânt bine batut. La realizarea cetatii au fost folositi mesteri greci si autohtoni.
